Seismic Study at Rock Crusher Facility
Navcon engineers were contracted to conduct a seismic study at a Rock Crusher /
Recycling Facility and to assess the ground vibration impact into an adjacent residential
community. Narrowband and 1/3 octave band spectra were recorded at the industrial
facility as well as in the community. Ground vibration levels were compared with
groundborne criteria established by ANSI, Caltrans, VDI and a number of other engineering
organizations.
Project Objective:
- Characterize groundborne vibration levels in and around the industrial facility.
- Determine if groundborne vibration levels exceeded the threshold of human
perceptibility.
- Determine if the groundborne vibration levels could result in structural damage in
nearby residences.
- Design vibration control measures to reduce groundborne excitation.
